To the Residents, Board Members, and Management of Nettles Island,

My name is Jim Leary, owner of Philly Down South, and I want to sincerely thank you for your support and trust in welcoming us as your new vendor to operate the Nettles Island Café.

A little about my background: I grew up in the hospitality business, starting at just 10 years old when my parents opened Leary’s Tavern in Bucks County, PA in 1971. Known for great food and a “Cheers-like” atmosphere, our family ran the tavern for 20 years before moving to Jupiter, Florida. From there, I gained valuable experience at Jonathan’s Landing and later as Bar and Banquet Manager at the City Club of the Palm Beaches.

Eventually, I launched my food trailer business, traveling across Florida, Kentucky, and Atlanta. Four years ago, the Elliott Museum invited me to open their upstairs café. That partnership has since grown into the successful Philly Down South Tiki Hut you know today.

What you can expect from us at Nettles Island:

x Experience – Over 40 years in the hospitality industry, alongside my close friend Chef Forrest, who brings 45 years of culinary expertise from some of South Florida’s finest country clubs.

x Pricing – Always fair for both residents and our business.

x Quality – We use only the best ingredients at Philly Down South and will continue that standard here.

x Respect – Our goal is to build a strong, respectful relationship with Nettles Island residents.

x Catering – From casual beach parties to white-glove service, I’ve catered for high profile clients throughout Florida.

At the end of the day, our mission is simple: to provide Nettles Island with great food, a friendly atmosphere, and a place everyone can enjoy.

We are excited to serve Nettles Island and look forward to seeing you!

With gratitude, Jim Leary Owner, Philly Down South
